Amherst to Face Debaters Tonight On U.N. Subject

Its term record of three wins and three losses at stake, the Debate Council will meet Amherst in a simultaneous "home and home" twin debate on the topic of federal world government and the United Nations.

Taking the affirmative for the Council on the question: "Resolved. That the United Nations be made a federal world government at once" will be Frederick D. Houghteling '50 and Arthur D. Sporn '47, who will meet a negative team from Amherst at 8 o'clock in Leverett House Junior Common Room.

At the same time, a council team defending the negative of the same world government resolution will meet an affirmative Amherst team at Amherst. The Crimson debaters in this half of the fray will be Frederic L. Chapin '50 and Warren E. Furth '49.

A loss to Rutgers in a debate last Wednesday on the topic of labor participation in management knotted up the Council's record for the term at three victories and a like number of defeats.

Previously the debaters had taken the measure of Columbia, Osgood Hall, and Temple, while meeting defeats at the hands of California and Drew.
