With any luck, we'll be skiing downhill and slalom every weekend from now to the end of the term," predicted president Robert M. Cabot '45 yesterday as he discussed term prospects for the crowded and busy Ski Club, which now numbers 65 strong, mostly undergraduates.

"It is hard to believe, but we were skiing last year as late as July 20," he added, explaining that the Club's cabin near Tuckerman's Ravine at the base of Mount Washington is in a place where the snow lingers unusually long. The cabin can bunk 25 men, and is always filled by weekend delegations.

The Ski Club supplies the dozen-odd members of the College's ski team, which competes for the Crimson both officially and unofficially, Cabot said. Races are under the direction of William Halsey, a veteran of the Dartmouth ski team before entering the Graduate School of Design.

The racers have a well-filled schedule for what is left of this season, and are entered in the U. S. Downhill and Sialom Open Meet at Pinkham Notch next weekend. Weather permitting, other members of the team will participate in a cross country and jump meet near Worcester at the same time.

On February 28, the Crimson will enter the Intercollegiate Ski Union Championships at Mont Tremblant in the Canadian Laurentians, Cabot revealed. The Laurentian competition is sponsored by McGill University, and is open to both Canadian and U. S. colleges.

Other projects for Ski Club members this term include a meet at Big Bromley in Vermont on March 8, and a joint Harvard-Dartmouth Slalom in Tuckerman's Ravine on April 19.

During the Christmas holidays, a group of ten Ski Club delegates withdrew to the Club cabin, and other members competed in Giant Slaloms at Cannon and Cranmore Mountains in New Hampshire, Cabot noted.

"We're a little crowded in the cabin, but we've got plenty to keep us up there for the next couple of months," he concluded.
