Not sixty million jobs, but an opportunity for every graduate to find employment to his liking is the goal of the University Office of Student Employment, now moving into full scale operation in its second year of business. A free service to any College senior, it is designed to serve men who wish employment after graduation without first attending graduate school.
During the coming term, seniors and men who graduated this month will be able to interview representatives of various business firms, either to obtain information or employment. Anyone who registers with the Weld Hall Office for this service should prepare a summary of their educational and experience qualifications for their field, as well as military records and an outline of vocational plans.
John W. Teele 27, director of the Placement Office, emphasized in his statement yesterday that vocational choices could be as wide as desired, although limited choices increase the chances of a good job in that field. Men who are leaving this month should be sure to leave a full statement of experience and plans, together with a forwarding address at the office, so that prospective employers may get in touch with them.
Founded last year, Teele's office eventually hopes to aid students of every Class, not only with post-graduate employment, but with summer jobs and a comprehensive plan of College courses pointing toward future vocation. For the present, however, their work is limited strictly to placing Seniors hoping for positions with private business concerns.
