United Nations Group Delegation to Attend Conference at Smith

Five delegates and an observer from the United Nations Council will journey to Smith today to participate in a two-day model U.N. Conference, along with 14 other colleges.

Executive positions will be held by two of the delegates when the meeting convenes this afternoon. W. Baird Bryant '50, vice chairman of the Council, will preside over the entire conference in his post as president of the model Security Council. Eliot S. Berkley '46 will be Secretary-General.

The conference, which will discuss the problem of trusteeship, will hear James V. Forrestal, Secretary of the Navy, present the official United States position in regard to its proposals on bases in the Pacific at the first session.

Besides Bryant and Berkley, Donald Connery '50, K. Bruce Friedman '50, and Francis Weiner 1G will represent the U.N. Council. Sted Noble '49 will go as observer.
