Army's sword-squad and bad weather combined forces Saturday to hand Rene Peroy's fencers their second straight defeat of the season, 15 to 12.
Blinding snow-storms held up the fencers train, scheduled to reach West Point early Friday night, for over 12 hours, so that they arrived just in time for the match after a sleepless night.
The Cadets took, the opening foils contest 7-2 and were well on their way to a 5-4 epee victory before the Peroy men came to and took the sabers match by a 6-3count.
Two Freshmen foils teams fared better against Exeter in a home contest, slashing down the prepsters 6-3, 6-3. This victory gives the Yearlings a 4-1 season record, while the Varsity now stands at two wins and two defeats.
The Varsity Line-up: Foils--Van Roosen, Hubbard, Barricelli, Raney. Epee: Johnson, Duke, Masterson. Saber: Gay, Edelman, Ellis, Toenges.
