Petitions to Enlarge List for Two Weeks; College Ballots In March Under New Set-Up

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

In the last of a College-wide series of Student Council nomination meetings, Dudley Hall, Adams House, and Eliot House last night achieved successful quorums as House representative elections were slated for March 3, 4, and 5.

In what Charles W. Duhig '29, assistant Dean of the College, termed "the best meeting I can remember in Dudley's history," 170 commuters gathered at the center to select their nominees for the Council.

Responses Called Success

"Student response has lived up to our highest hopes," said Council President Levin H. Campbell, 3rd last night. We of the present Council feel that undergraduate support in these House elections has proved the worth of the new constiution," he added.

House chairmen announced yesterday that nomination petitions will be posted in dining halls until four days before elections. James J. Sullivan '47, chairman of the commuter's center, said last night that Dudley Hall's petitions will be circulated among the non-residents to facilitate response.

Petitions Need 20 Names

Requiring a minimum of 20 signatures for verification of nominations, the petitions may not be signed by more than two members of the particular House. Ballot slates will be announced in the CRIMSON February 26.

Winthrop and Dunster House balloting will take place Monday, March 3; Kirkland, Leverett, and Lowell Houses, Tuesday, March 4; and Dudley Hall, Adams and Eliot Houses, Wednesday, March 5. Ballots will be available in the dining halls at both noon and evening meals.

The electees will hold office only until May, when another selection, comprising both class and House representatives, is scheduled.
