Crimson Matmen Pin Six Bruins to Top Brown, 30-8

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Six Brown bears were looking at the ceiling of their Providence wrestling room when their bouts ended last night, as Chief Boston's Varsity wrestlers emphatically broke their losing streak with a resounding 30 to 8 win over a hapless crew of grapplers from Brown University.

Two Crimson wrestlers, Bill Bluemel and Bob Claflin won their initial victories of the season, both falls, in the 121 and 175-pound classes. Bluemel planned John Mitchell in 1:59 of the first period while Claflin got his fall in 1:35 of the third period.

Frank Trinkle pinned highly-rated John Michael of Brown in 55 seconds of the third period with a chicken-wing and arm lock, while 145-pounder Dan Ray in the weight class above him, turned in his usual victory, this time via the pin route, in 2:32 of the third period.

Louria Loses Teeth

In the roughest match of the meet, captain Don Louria lost two in winning the 165-pound class, his opponent retiring with an injured shoulder in the third period after being pinned earlier. Heavyweight Pete Fuller got his expected pin in 1:27 of the second period. Harvard's Pete Knox and Al Zellner lost the 128 and 155-pound classes, Knox by a decision and Zellner by a fall. Knox's opponent, Frank Ferris, was meet captain for the Bruins and Probably their ablest wrestler.

Prior to the Varsity meet, Jay Thomas's Freshmen lost to the Bruin cubs, 17 to 15, as they took three classes by pins but lost the other five classes, four by close decisions and one by a fall. Winning for the Yardlings were Jim Waddell in the 128-pound class, captain Ray Rogers in the 165-pound class, and Howie Houston in the unlimited.
