Council Appoints Business Manager To Rescue Unpublished '49 Red Book

John R. Overcash '49 of Kirkland House and Springfield. Tennessee assumes the business managership of the delayed '49 Red Book today, taking over the post formerly held by Alan E. Heimert '49. Editorial chairman James F. Ryan '49 said Overcash would commence "a complete staff purge and reorganization very soon."

Appointment of Overcash came as the result of a Student Council investigation into the state of the Red Book by a special committee chaired by Robert B. Palmer '47. The committee's findings culminated in the resignation of Heimert.

Edric A. Weld '46, member of the Council in charge of Freshman affairs, said yesterday that despite the installation of new personnel, it was still impossible to set a definite publication date.

Material is Ready

He did assure the Class of '49, however that the book would definitely appear before the end of the term. Earlier, Ryan had disclosed that photographs and written material are ready, and that publication only awaits final determination of the book's size.

Meanwhile Overcash announced that he had three subordinate executive positions open, and declared that the date of his first meeting would be announced shortly.

A campaign of solicitation carried on by a hired business manager this summer, was not successful.
