Eight Gold Coasters produced Adams' first basketball win of the season yesterday afternoon, downing their Eliot cellarmates 42 to 23 at the Indoor Athletic Building, while Dudley's Commuters clinched their hold on third place with a 42 to 30 victory over Kirkland.
Hugh Wheelwright drew top scoring honors for the Gold Coasters by sinking 11 points as his teammate Dave Templeton, followed close on his heels with 10 tallies. Ted Eckelberry of Eliot, who garnered 12 markers, was high scorer for the game.
In the Commuter-Deacon encounter, Dudleyite Jim Coon paced his team with 18 points, while eight Deacons dented the rim to keep the Kirkland scoring even. Dudley's fast break scored early and often and the Commuters never fell behind after the first five minutes of the fray.
