Outdistanced Crimson Squad Finishes Sixth At Hanover Ski Meet

Unable to keep pace in one of the fastest and highest scoring meets in recent ski history, Harvard finished a poor sixth out of seven entrants Saturday in the thirty-seventh annual Dartmouth Winter Carnival at Hanover.

Trailing more than a hundred points behind the winning Big Green, the Crimson skiers ended the two-day festival with 477 points--a scant three credits above the last place West Point aggregation. Middlebury nosed out McGill at the last minute to take second place, while New Hampshire's Wildcats and the University of Vermont's squad finished fourth and fifth, respectively.

Coach Bill Halsey's team made its best showing in the downhill racing events, where it placed fifth. The Crimson finished sixth in the slalom, downhill-and-slalom, and jump contests, and brought up the rear in the cross country and combined cross country and jump competitions.

Crimson Ski Team members at the Carnival included: Larry Griffin, Bob Faulkner, Jerry Genn, Rodger Nordbloom, Graham Taylor, and Dick Rick.
