Annex Dean Quashes 'Degenerated' Good-Nights, Moves Adieux Outside

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Only five minutes more was the officially recognized time limit for Radcliffe girls to entertain late-returning male-escorts within their dormitories--until last Monday night. But in a mass meeting two nights ago at Agassiz Hall, with Dean Mildred P. Sherman presiding, "keep the wolf at the door" was ratified by the entire student body.

"The process of saying goodnight has degenerated," declared Dean Sherman before an appreciative audience, explaining that loose interpretation of the law forced its redefinition. Radcliffe Houses will be no man's land after 10 o'clock on weekdays and 11 o'clock on Sundays, as fond nocturnal farewells become an outdoor sport.

House Prexles Concur

Indicating the approval of the board of hall presidents, Miss Marjorie Larsen, Radcliffe '47, of Briggs, joined Dean Sherman on the platform. Tightening of discipline was initiated by the house presidents' board along with the administration.

Eliot Hall president Miss Suzanne Carter, Radcliffe '49, commended Dean Sherman's approach to the problem of dorm sitters last night. "House mothers will no longer be puzzled about what we have to say to a man for two hours or so on the sofa," she said' "after we have spent the whole evening with him."

Meanwhile rumblings from the rank and file of Cliffedwellers were said to be increasing hourly. Observers noted, at the same time, that rival female academics were similarly curtailed.
