Glee Club Aids in Piston Selections

The Harvard Glee Club will combine forces with the Boston University Brass Choir tonight at 8:15 o'clock in Paine Hall for a concert of early and contemporary music.

Main fare of the evening will be the performance of two pieces, "Carnival Song" and "Fanfare for the Fighting French," by Walter Piston '24, Professor of Music and prolific American composer.

"Carnival Song," a setting for men's voices and brass of a poem by Lorenzo de' Medici, will be sung by the Glee Club under the direction of G. Wallace Woodworth '24. Written in 1988, the work has been recorded by the Club and performed widely.

Robert D. King will lead the Brass Choir in the balance of the program which includes the Chorale "Allein Gott in der Hoh sei Ehr" by Bach, Six Pieces by Pezel, a "Canzon" and "Canzona" by Gabrieli, and "Two Pieces for Brass Instruments" by Willson Osbourne. Sponsored by the Department of Music, the concert is free and open to the public.
