Local opponents invade the Boston Arena and the Indoor Athletic Building today as the freshman hockey team leads off against New Prep this afternoon while the jayvee quintet follows tonight against Emerson College.
The Yardling ice squad has been cut to 22 for today's match with New Prep, second of the season. Center Joe Kittredge and left wing Doug Anderson will probably switch positions on the first line in an effort to form a better working combination.
Besides the line of Jack Carmen, Anderson, and Kittredge, two other lines and three defense duets will see action this afternoon. Following the game, the Yardlings will elect a captain for this season.
The same jayvee five that has triumphed twice while losing once will probably take the floor tonight. John Altrocchi and Bill Mobraaten will line up in the forward positions while Dick Covey and Chuck Brynteson will be in the guard slots with Frank Lionette at center.
Pat Dailey, John Goldsmith, and Dave McGiffert should also see action.
After scrimmaging with the Varsity most of the week, Hal Kopp expects his team to edge the unknown Emerson boys.
