Having fathered the "New Student" and nursed it through perilous pre-natal trials with University Hall, the editors of the HYD-sponsored publication assumed the role of midwives yesterday morning as they took to the streets and hawked the magazine to all comers.
Sixteen news-boys and girls, newly converted from the ranks of the Harvard Youth for Democracy, cried their wares from the Yard's many gates with unexpected success, as almost 400 copies of the infant publication were sold. Such inspired pitchmen as Jean Lo Corbeiller '48 loudly touted the sheet for browsing purposes "in that next dull class of yours."
Still awaiting final University decision as to whether the "New Student" will be recognized as an undergraduate publication, HYD cannot employ regular channels of sale. The hucksters, who have cleared their activities with Police Chief King will be back at the old stand today and throughout the week.
