Tackles Ready for Tigers, but Sophomore Passing Threat Is Not Yet Certain of Playing

By J. ANTHONY Lewis

The Medical Department provided the news at Soldiers Field yesterday afternoon--the first solidly encouraging medical reports to issue from the Dillon headquarters in many a moon.

Tackles John Gorczynski and Howie Houston ran plays with the B lineup and were declared ready for work Saturday against Princeton. Their return lightens Dick Harlow's shoulders of part of the insoluble line problem that has been troubling him since the Holy Cross contest.

Kenary Passes

Sophomore Jim Kenary was back too, working out his throwing arm in a dummy passing scrimmage early in the afternoon. Whether Kenary will be ready for heavy duty against the Tigers will not be known until Friday, but chances seem to be moderately good.

On the dark side of the ledger was an announcement by the doctors that Bob Kennedy, wingman who has been the hard-luck recipient of recurring injuries this season, will be out for the rest of the year. Second-line tackles Rocky Stone and Doug Bradlee were also listed as out for the Princeton tussle.

Defensive Drill

In addition to the passing drill, the squad worked on its punts and downfield kick covering. A session of non-contact defensive work against Princeton offenses led into the concluding signal drill.

Academic absences still abounded during the day's session. Chip Gannon and John Fiorentino turned out but departed early because of exams.
