Middle Class Is Topic Of Columbia Professor

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Robert S. Lynd, professor of Sociology in the Graduate Faculty of Political Science at Columbia, will set forth his views on "The Middle Class and Social Change" before a New Lecture Hall audience Monday at 8 o'clock in the second of a series of fall lectures sponsored by the John Reed Society.

Sub-titled "A discussion of the contemporary dilemma of American liberalism," Professor Lynd's speech is expected to maintain that this country's middle class is unable to take the lead in meeting the need for over-all democratic planning in American society.

Professor Lynd, co-author with his wife of the widely-known "Middletown" books and author of "Knowledge for What?" will elaborate on some of the ideas he presented to a Law School Forum last winter.
