Autoists Pick Soldiers Field Space in Poll

One hundred-eighty-seven University car owners have aligned themselves behind the proposed Soldiers Field parking plan, poll tabulations showed last night, while 115 men have definitely refused to park their autos in the H.A.A. controlled field near the Allston horseshoe.

Incomplete returns to the Student Council poll distributed last week to automobile owners registered with the University have indicated that the majority prefers a parking lot at less than the $5 rate offered by the H.A.A.

302 Returned

Of the 506 polls distributed, 302 have been returned thus far, the Council parking committee disclosed. Seventy-nine men favored the unprotected, free lot, while fifty-three said they would use the unguarded lot, but would prefer that it be fenced in. Rental would then he $5 per month.

A middle group of 55 men said it would use the first plan, but would prefer protection.

The Council committee holds hopes that the $5 rental may be reduced. The plan will come up first for H.A.A. approval, and if passed by that group, will be presented to the Corporation.

Significant were remarks on the polls revealing that of the 115 dissenters, 60 already having parking spaces. Only eight complained about the distance.
