Yachtsmen Compete For Schell Trophy

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Sailboats from 12 colleges will scud across the waters of the Charles River Basin this afternoon and tomorrow as New England undergraduate sailors hold their annual autumn regatta for the Schell Trophy. The winner will be in effect the fall intercollegiate sailing champion.

Two Crimson boats, captained by Tom Day and Frank Scully, are entered along with crafts from M.I.T., Yale, Brown, B.C., and other colleges. Pete Putnam and John Gardner will crew as the Crimson seeks to win its second major yachting race of the current term.

Putnam, secretary of the Crimson yacht club, said yesterday he hoped to have some supporters on hand watching the races in spite of the cold weather.
