Crimson Debaters Split Double Bill Here and at Yale

Twin delegations of the Debate Council split a double-billed argument with Yale last night, simultaneously taking a decision in New Haven and losing one in the Winthrop House Junior Common Room. The topic of the discussion, which Harvard argued in the negative here and in the affirmative at Yale, was "Resolved, That President Truman should be reelected in 1948."

Although the Yale team won the decision at Winthrop House, the judges there were unanimous in naming Edwin J. Jacob '47 of the Crimson team, as the outstanding speaker of the night.

12 Men Participated

The participants in the two debates were as follows: at Harvard, Richard T. Gill '47, Edwin J. Jacob '47, and Melvin L. Zurier '50 against James H. Denzer, Paul Rinden, and Jonathan Newman; at Yale, Edward F. Burke '50, Frederick D. Houghteling '50, and Paul L. Wright '49 against L. Brent Bozell, Martin A. Chatinover, and James J. Ginden.

Individual decisions at both ends of the double meeting were split, 2 to 1.
