Cross Country Team Set to Ambush Dartmouth at Franklin Park Today

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

"Always a bridesmaid, never a bride," Coach Mikkola's current Varsity harrier squad will try to win one this afternoon when it races Dartmouth over the 4 1/4 mile Franklin Park Course. The Varsity meet, starting at 3:45 o'clock, will be preceded by a 3 1/4 mile Freshman jaunt.

Today's race will singular in that the Crimson runners have participated only in triangular contests so far this fall. In the opening meet, they lost to a potent M.I.T. squad, while shading Holy Cross, and last week, they watched the entire Rhode Island State team disappear over the sylvan Franklin Part horizon. Boston University had a slight bulge over the Varsity in the latter meet.

Tralled Manhattan

The visitors from Hanover, generally one of the powers in IC4A cross country, appear to be about even with the Crimson this year. They have lost to Manhattan, unveiling a strong runner, Waterman, but showing little in the 2-3-4-5 positions.

Shrunken appreciably by the loss of five key men, the Varsity will have to count on Captain Huna Rosenfeld, Johnny Cogan, and Bill Baker today when it attempts to notch its first Ivy victim of the season.

The Crimson Freshman unit, which performed well again last week, should have a soft job of polishing off its Dartmouth counterparts. The Indian yearlings were trimmed decisively last week by Exeter.
