HAA Vetoes Oakleys For Settlement Kids

Despite requests from Phillips Brooks House leaders, the Harvard Athletic Association has declined to let settlement house children attend home Varsity football games free of charge.

Following the Boston University contest, in which the end zone stands were virtually unoccupied, the PBH Social Service Committee asked the H.A.A. that 300 tickets to each of the subsequent home games be distributed among the 42 Hub settlement houses with which PBH works. The plea was turned down.

Subsequently, PBH requested tickets to the Jayvee contests and winter athletic events. A request for tickets to this Friday's Dartmouth Jayvee tilt is now in H.A.A. hands, Athletic Association official Carroll F. Getchell disclosed last night.

Should PBH get tickets to Junior Varsity battles, it will still have a problem on its hands, as local elementary schools do not lot out until after the Friday games have already begun.

PBH expects a final decision from the H.A.A. within the week.
