NEW HAVEN, September 30--General issue for all police is now the Yale blue tie. The Meritt Parkway will henceforth be patrolled in the environs of New Haven by motorcycle officers sporting the sincere cravattage of old Eli.

Police officials, although expressing admiration for some of the more exclusive club ties, and particularly for the multicolored "Skull and Bones" neck-wear, considered it unlikely that they would be permitted to use them.

"All we want is comaraderie with the average college boy anyway," said one venerable gendarme dispensing a ticket to a Harvard speedster yesterday who reported the fashion note.
