(This letter was received by a person in Cambridge who has asked the Crimson to reprint it as an appeal from Greek students to all Harvard students.) Castron Lemnos, Greece August 26th, 1946.
Dear Friends:
Our daresome way of appealing to the most promising young generation of the United States is justified by sentiments of mutual friendship and admiration shared equally by both our Nations.
The evils of occupation and the total destruction of our beloved country did not affect our soul which, we are proud to say, is the soul of Greece.
We are coming back and we need your help.
We are not ashamed to ask you to extend a helpful hand.
We know that we will not be misunderstood by you.
Help us to come back with whatever used athletic articles you can spare. We need shoes, (used ones) and we can repair them, footballs, javelins, etc.
We are trying to build our bodies to become worthy of our ancestors.
To the American youth who revives the spirit of Ancient Greece, we look with confidence and gratitude. For all the members of the Panlemnian Athletic Club. N. Kissemlis A. Imvriotis C. Rodakis.
