With three meetings within the first week of the term, the University football cheerleaders have been warming up on the fundamentals in hope of teaching a few basic cheers to Crimson rooters at tomorrow's encounter with Connecticut.
Under the leadership of Gerald Spear, the 15-man squad is looking forward to staging rallies at the Varsity Club on the nights before games, beginning a week from tonight. Plans have also been worked out for stunts between the halves, and several men on the new squad are working on fancy tumbling acts.
Faced with the difficulty of a crowd that is largely unfamiliar with Harvard cheers and songs, Spear plans to start slowly in developing a cheering section. Songs and cheers will be included in the program at tomorrow's game for the benefit of newcomers and those who were here throughout the wartime doldrums.
