Contact Dropped As Harlow Plays Moravec, Petrillo

First Two Squads Probe Husky Offense in Dummy Drills; Drvaric Still Nursing Injury

By J. ANTHONY Lewis

With Connecticut only three days away by station wagon, Dick Harlow put his boys through their paces against U-Conn plays yesterday afternoon in a tough day of dummy scrimmage. Big Vince Moravec was back on the field for the first time since he bumped his leg Monday, looking strong and leaving observers not too much in doubt about his readiness for some action Saturday.

Fearful of falling into another rut of injuries, the coach withheld all contact work for the afternoon. Pete Petrillo was again in uniform, running through both ground and passing plays, but Emil Drvaric saw little or no action and continues to be listed as a doubtful started.

Only new development of the day came with the advancement of Jim Feinberg to the ailing Drvaric's guard post.

The C team with Chief Boston as an added starter, ran the Husky plays against the A and B elevens, which alternated every few plays. Next the subs fell into Connecticut defenses as the probable starters went through dummy plays, carrying them to the point of contact with blockers and tacklers.

Big news of the day came after practice, of course, when Cleo O'Donnell was re-elected to the captaincy he never served. Another announcement from the HAA disclosed that Torby MacDonald, '39 flash and captain and now in his last year in the Law School, will assist Henry Lamar as a backfield coach of the Freshman team; a George Hibbard, another former great, will also help with the Yardlings.
