NEW YORK-More than a quarter-million baseball fans are expected to turn out for tomorrow's opening games. They will be out to see their first genuine big-time baseball since 1941-when the major leagues began to lose 630 men to the armed forces.
About 540 of those players have returned to the big leagues. They and promising rookies may write some new chapters tomorrow in the history of opening day thrills.
