Yacht Club Dinghies Take Third in Annual Summer Sailing Race

In the fifth Annual Inter-Collegiate Yacht Racing Summer Dinghy Regatta held last Sunday in the Charles River Basin, the "summer supplement" of the Harvard Yacht Club placed third in a field of 16 colleges.

Massachusetts Institute of Technology continued its winning streak as its two crew squad, brought the Leonard M. Fowle Trophy to the Engineers for the fifth time. Boston University also placed ahead of the Crimson.

First Sign of H Yacht Club

Each School, with the exception of Brown, entered two dinghy crews in the regatta. Tom Day skippered one of the University boats with Leon green as his crew-mate, and Bill Dowd and John Ludwick co-skippered the club's other entry.

Harvard's entry in the meet was the first sign of the renovation of the Harvard Yacht Club, Day said that the club plans to have a full season in the fall when "Commodore" Claude Van Buren will return to take over the direction of the club.

Other colleges represented at the regatta were: Tufts, Bowdoin, Northeastern, Dartmouth, Williams, Worcester Polytechnic, Michigan, Yale, Stevens, Trinity, Brown, and New Hampshire.

Day, who is nominally in charge of the club during the summer term, said that the Harvard team was only able to participate because of the aid of M.I.T. in allowing the Harvard crews to use their facilities.
