Enlargement Planned For Nursery Program

Proving itself to be an expanding organization, the University Nursery School moves into its new, double Quonset hut home on the corner of Kirkland Street and Kirkland Place next fall, right next door to the home of Provost Buck.

Miss Winnifred A. Lydon, director of the school, and her four assistants, all trained nursery school teachers, plan to operate the new project on a 9 to 12 o'clock schedule in addition to the present 2 to 5 o'clock period in anticipation of an increase in enrollment to 80 children next fall.

The building is divided into three separate playrooms, one each for two, three, and four year olds, and each room has a door leading to an individual playground. Miss Lydon said yesterday that the new structure would occupy more space than the whole second floor of Phillips Brooks House, of which the nursery now has only two rooms.

Several groups of students expressed their relief upon hearing of the new site. Students in Stoughton Hall, adjacent to the present playground, said that they had high hopes of passing at least two of their courses next term.

The American Veterans Committee, whose office is next to the nursery in Phillips Brooks House, happily removed the large sign outside their door. It seems that two prospective members, ex-Navy fliers, had come up to the second floor to join but had become so interested in the block construction of an aircraft carrier by a boy of four that they had forgotten all about joining the A.V.C.
