Leaflets warning residents to keep their doors locked were distributed last week to all House men by the University Caretaking and Real Estate Division. Students who have books in their rooms were particularly requested to beware of thieves. Every year janitors, maids, and watchmen catch not a few trespassers in College Houses. Sound advice is proffered by the Business manager, Aldrich Durant: Lock them out!
If a student does leave his door open, he may be relieved of his jewelry. Every year some such gentry are successful. They do get around the watchmen. If the resident is not in his clothes, they might be missing, too.
It is a physical impossibility to patrol all entries at all times, warns the notice. Don't try it!
