Professor Magoun Escapes Allack by Gang in Common

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Attacked by thugs early yesterday morning on Cambridge Common, Francis P. Magoun '16, Professor of Comparative Literature, managed to make a get-away and suffered only minor injuries from the engagement.

After buying a paper in the Square, Mageun was walking north through the Common towards his home about 1:00 o' clock in the morning when the men stepped out of the darkness and assailed him. He managed to fight them off momentarily until he was able to run on toward Water house Street.

The men did not pursue him further and he continued on to his home at 29 Reservoir Street. He was unable in the darkness to determine the appearance of the number of his assailants. The apparent purpose of the attack was robbery, but the men did not succeed in getting at Magoun's wallet.
