Don Swegan, shortstop and captain of the Crimson baseball team, was a member the Eastern All-Star college nine which defeated the Western All-Stars, 6 to 2, at Fenway Park Friday afternoon, in a game sponsored by the College Baseball Coaches' Association, expected to be the first in a series of annual intersectional battles.
The only Harvard representative on the Eastern club, Swegan started at shortstop, giving way to West Virginia's John Fox later in the game. He went hitless in two trips to the plate, handled four chances cleanly, and was charged with one error. A member of the recently deactivated NROTC program, Swegan will not take part in the second game of the Yale series, scheduled for New Haven on June 24. It is expected that he will soon return to his pre-service alma mater, Bowling Green.
