The following steps have been taken by the University to date in meeting the veteran housing shortage:
1. An office was set up in Straus Hall, which canvassed local alumni and acted as a center for exchange of information.
2. Of the temporary buildings already assigned by the FPHA, 126 of 198 apartments have been occupied, and the remainder are ready.
3. Also leased and renovated for the exclusive use of veterans, either 100 married men with children or 200 single men, is the Hotel Brunswick on Boylston and Clarendon Streets, Boston.
4. An application for 900 family units is pending with the FPHA.
5. Cooperative housing facilities on 9 Bow Street and Channing Street have been secured for married veterans.
