WASHINGTON--The United States has reached a naval accord with the French High Commissioner of Martinique, strategic French Caribbean naval base, after secret consultations at Port de France, it was revealed officially tonight.

The nature of the accords, which may possibly provide for joint French-American defense of Martinique and the adjacent French island of Guadeloupe, was not disclosed.
