Lacrosse Team Routs Governor Dummer, 7-5

After piling up a comfortable lead of five goals in the first 20 minutes, Coach Bob Maddux lifted his first string stickmen and though he spent most of the rest of the game experimenting with new players, the lacrosse team came through with its third straight win, this time against Governer Dummer at Bifield yesterday, by a score of 7 to 5.

When the first team went out, the score stood at 5 to 0 in favor of the Crimson and the game was in danger of turning into a rout. The second string played all the rest of the game except for a few minutes in the third quarter when the Varsity came in and scored the final two Crimson goals.

Both teams were hampered considerably by the condition of the field which was dotted with puddles and was slippery from 24 hours of rain. As a result the passing on both teams was poor and dodging was virtually impossible.

After spending the last few weeks working for his attack, Coach Maddux finally got results as the forwards handled the ball cleanly and set up their plays efficiently. Scoring honors for the afternoon went to Hans Estin, who netted three, George Wood with two goals, and Ned Dewey and Bob Richards with one each.

The first defense of Don Louria, George Blanchard, and Jim Graham, while they were in, held the Governer Dummer forwards to one goal and should make things tough for the Williams attack next Saturday.
