Pointing towards a late season encounter with a Yale Freshman team, a Union Debate group, which will begin operations next semester, was organized yesterday under the tutclage of William C. Murphy II.
One of a group of Union organizations that mark the resurgence of the Union as the center of Yardling social life, the Debate Group will engage in contests with Freshman teams from other colleges and with teams from near-by prep schools. In addition, the organization plans to sponsor several intramural debates.
The group's first meeting, held last night, was largely organizational in nature. A short discussion of the debate styles used in different parts of the country concluded the session.
