Garage Sale Augments Serious Parking Lack

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The University's already serious parking shortage became even more acute yesterday with the announcement that the Ofgant Chevrolet Company has gold its Mount Auburn Street garage to the Cambridge Rubber Company for us as a storage warehouse.

About 100 automobile, many of them owned by Harvard students, are stored at present at the Ofgant garage, and no provision has yet been made by the concern for facilities elsewhere. With November 15 as the deadline by which all cars must be removed from the garage, the recent investigation of parking facilities initiated by the Student Council has taken on a note or urgency.

At its Tuesday evening meeting, the Council heard a report from Brennon W. Chandler '45 which suggested the use of sites on Western Avenue behind Harvard Stadium, several vacant lots around Harvard Square, and the Eliot-Kirkland-Winthrop House triangle.
