Bellboys Win Over Funsters by 7-0 As Eliot Nips Dudley in Scorefest

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Tied with Dunster for third position in the House league at 3 o'clock yesterday afternoon, Lowell left the gridiron 90 minutes later deadlocked with Leverett for second place, after taking the Funsters into camp, 7 to 0. Eliot, unable to score in its last four contests, broke loose with a rash of touchdowns to down Dudley, 18 to 12.

Near the close of the third period, the Bellboys staged a 50-yard drive on the ground to the Dunster 10. An attempt to spread the Dunster defense by passing resulted in an interception on the 7.

On Dunster's first play, however, alert guard Pete Marble hopped a fumble on the one yard stripe from which Loring Briggs skirted right end to score. Dan Silver converted.

All but one of the five touchdowns in the Eliot-Dudley game were set up by long aerials, with "Slinging Sammy" McGiffert tossing for the Elephants and John Shepardson for the Commuters.

Bob Morgan, Dave Abbot, and Sid Greeley were on the receiving end for the victors while Larry McGrath snatched both Dudley scores. The clinching Eliot score came from a sustained ground attack with McGiffert crossing the goal line.
