Republican Forum to Hold Initial Meeting Next Week at Lowell

Looking for support from Republicans, Indenpents, and dissident Democrats, a brand new organization is about to elbow its way into the already crowded University political arena. Called the Harvard Republican Open Forum, the group will hold its first meeting on November 19 in the Lowell House Junior Common Room when it will present Seymour E. Harris, associate professor of Economics, and Charles C. Abbott, associate professor of Business Economics, speaking on the topic, "Is Uncle Sam Overpaid?"

An affiliate of the nationwide Republican Open Forums backed by the Stassen wing of the G.O.P., the H.R.O.P. hopes to reach decisions on matters of national import and communicate these decisions to the national Republican leaders.

In line with this purpose the group will distribute printer ballots on current questions to those present at its meetings and forward the tabulated results to national Republican headquarters.

Permanent officers for the H.R.O.F. will not be elected until the organization has held two or three meetings, which are scheduled at monthly intervals.
