Schwartz uses Fig Leaf 'Angle" To Plug 'Adam The Greater'

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Ballyhoo for the Harvard Dramatic Club production, "Adam the Greater," reached national proportions this week-end as the University thespians prepared to open tonight for a five-day run in Sanders Theatre.

This particular answer to a press agent's dream began when Miss Kaye Horan, Radcliffe '48 uttered a firm "No" to rousing rehearsal talk that envisioned her performing before the footlights dressed in only three fig leaves.

Sizing up a delicate situation, Publicity Director Martin Shwartz 2G promptly began to send out publicity that stressed the negative angle. On Friday Boston papers discreetly announced that the Eve of "Adam the Creator" would not appear in a fig leaf ensemble. Only the CRIMSON managed to identify Miss Hogan.

Radcliffe Ratifies Costume

After Radcliffe authorities had ratified a decorous Grecian-style outfit, Shwartz set his designers to work and announced the latest word in Cambridge fashions t a waiting press. The New York Dally News picked up the story and emblazoned it in the place of honor on page three.

Still counting his press clippings, Shwartz states that the story with pictures has been relayed to every English speaking country in the world or, at least, he hedges, as far as the wires of the Associated Press, the United Press, and the International News Service will take it.

Only a few days after the breakdown of their no-advertising clause, the Newspaper PM offered another breach when the Dramatic Club slipped in their pages. Other papers checked off the Shwartz scoreboard were the New York sun and Telegram.

Cheesecake Sanctioned

"Cheesecake, yes, fig leaves, no" Miss Horan affirmed yesterday as the final reports on her sartorial elegance poured in from outlying provinces. Last night she was busy conferring with Miss Kathryn Watson, Radcliffe '48, who is in charge of production costumes.

Although the Dramatic Club has two other female performers under contract, their news-value had not yet been exploited up until dress-rehearsal time last night. Miss Jane Bergwall of Simmons is portraying Lilith and Miss Helen McCloskey, who works for the University is cast as a Woman.

The University hierarchy remains slightly unconvinced. One of their censors will be present tonight at the dress-rehearsals to supplement the vigilant appraisal of Cambridge officials and the Watch and Ward Society.
