Booters Ready for Jumbos After WPI Opener Deadlock

Two hours before the kickoff of tomorrow's pigskin battle in Soldiers Field, the Varsity soccer eleven will take to the Business School Field in an effort in win its first game of the current season at the expense of an as yet untested Tufts outfit. Somewhat disappointed by the opener last Saturday ending in a 5 to 5 tic. Coach MacDonald has spent the week working up team play and expects his squad, made up almost entirely of veterans of former seasons, to make a good showing.

Two factors should combine to make the team which takes the field tomorrow a far better outfit than that which started against WPI last week. New players, reporting at every practice, have added reserve strength and potential starters to the candidates for each position; likewise, this week's practice has ironed out much of the poor passing which was a large factor in the failure to defeat WPI.

Boost Forward Line

The forward line, about which MacDonald professed to worry carlier in the season because of lack of reserves, got an added boost this week when Bob Smith and Arnold Cullinan, both fast wings, joined the squad. Smith appears to be an almost sure starter tomorrow.

With about 40 players now reporting every day, the Freshman squad is loaded with good material, according to "Poley" Guyder, the Yardling Coach, and his team will be out for its second win of the term tomorrow at 1:30 o'clock on the Business School Field "If we have enough time to get the boys working as a team," Guyder said yesterday, "Saturday should be an easy win."
