Jayvees Trample Dartmouth As Yardlings Tie Exeter 0-0

Maintaining an undefeated, untied and unscored-upon record in four official games the Jayvees subdued Dartmouth 11 to 0 Saturday on Soldiers Field, scoring two touchdowns in each of the three final periods, after being held scoreless in the first quarter. Meanwhile, playing away from home, a spirited, hard-fighting Freshman squad rebounded from two previous defeats to gain a scoreless tie with Exeter, an opponent rated above the Andover team which downed them two weeks ago.

McDaniel Scores Twice

Outcharging a lighter Indian line, the Crimson junior forces uncorked a vicious offensive which dented the Big Green's goal line six times in three periods. Right end Bud McDaniel led the scoring parade with a pair of touchdowns on a forward pass from Dave Farrell and a recovered fumble in the end zone, while Bucky Harrison warmed up for the ensuing Varsity tussle by booting four more points after touchdown.

Other scores came on a pass interception by Dave Farrell near the Dartmouth goal line, and short line plays with Bill Brady and Frank Powers carrying the ball over. Some T-formation deception resulted in a 35-yard run by Paul Kelly for the final Crimson touchdown.

While the men in green gained little ground on the offensive, they fielded a scrappy team which was hindered in the long run by lack of reserves. After the fourth touchdown, the entire Crimson bench saw action against a fast tiring foe.

Defensively, the whole line was great, though a little ragged on the offense. End Bill Fitz, tackle Ossie Kiever, and backer-up Pete Harwood were cited for their work in halting Dartmouth.

Freshmen Threaten at End

The clock ran out to keep Henry Lamar's Freshman team out of the win column for the third straight game this season, but not until the Yardling eleven had turned in 60 minutes of bang-up defensive ball, never letting the Exonians inside their 20-yard line.

Jim Kenary's accurate right arm brought the Crimson Freshmen into the shadow of Exeter's goal posts just as the final gun sounded. An attempted field goal from 20 yards out was the closest Exeter came to scoring.
