Determined to bounce back into a contending position in the New England Soccer League, the Varsity soccer team left town yesterday to take on an undefeated eleven from Dartmouth at 12 o'clock today at Hanover. Although the Crimson has dropped one game so far this season, a win over the Indians will put them back in the running for the championship because all but three teams in the League have already lost at least once.
Tufts Walloped By Green
Beating the Big Green will be no easy task for the MacDonaldmen, however. Last week the Indians subdued Tufts by the score of 5 to 0, while the Crimson booters shaded the Jumbos by only one goal when they played them a month ago.
Coach James MacDonald is not at all pessimistic over this fact. "There is probably no sport where comparative scores mean so little as in soccer," Mac said yesterday. "Also you have to remember that we have come a long way since the Tuft's game."
Lineup Still in Flux
Hampered by numerous injuries and half-injuries, the standing Varsity lineup combination is: Harshman, g.; Forster, r.f.; Purinton, l.f.; Mavor, r.h.; Ogden, c.h.; Corrigan, l.h.; Cate, o.t.; Potter, i.t.; Azcarraga, c.f.; Blanco, i.l.; Dawson, o.l. at the goal.
The undefeated Freshman team has also left for Dartmouth to play the Indian yearlings in a contest starting an hour before the Varsity game. Coach "Poley" Guydar has been drilling his squad all week on short passes, and expects his attack to be clicking with regularity.
