Funsters Wallop Dudley; Kirkland Defeats Bellboys

Dunster bounced back into the win column with a loud bang yesterday with Dudley the victim in a 20 to 7 thrashing, while the Deacons of Kirkland maintained their unbeaten record by proving themselves once again a second-half worldbeater at the expense of Lowell, 13 to 0.

It was Chuck MacDonald running and Chuck MacDonald passing for the Funsters as they rolled up the highest score to date in intramural football. Recovering a Dudley fumble on the 30-yard line in enemy territory, the Dunster men drove consistently toward the last white line, with MacDonald bucking over for the first tally.

Center Bill Weeks hauled down a Dudley aerial at midfield and raced 50 yards for Funster touchdown number two in the second period. Early in the third quarter, with the ball on his own 40, MacDonald faded back and tossed a 30-yard strike to Jim Graham, who rambled to pay dirt for the final Dunster score. This time MacDonald showed further versatlity by booting a place kick for the point after.

Curley to Marshall Clicks

Handicapped by their own fumblitis, the Dudleyites took advantage of a Dunster miscue to take over on their opponents' 20. A pass from Bob Curley to right end Marshall provided their lone touchdown, with the same combination repeating for the extra point. In the waning minutes of the game, Dudley began to click on the offense, but it was too late to save the day.

In the Lowell-Kirkland fray, the talented arm of Jerry Glynn sparked a Deacon aerial attack, which pierced the Bell-boy pass defense almost at will. A scoring thrust via the air in the first half was stopped only when Lyne pulled a Moravec by intercepting in the end zone.

Kirkland's initial score, coming in the third period, was set up by the interception of a Bellboy pass deep in Lowell territory. A mixture or running plays and passes, all from the T-formation, brought the pigskin to the one yard line, where Bell cracked the stout Lowell line for six points. In the final period, the Deacons salted the game away with a drive from the Lowell 35, climaxed by Glynn's 10 yard scoring slash off tackle.
