Vague undergraduate speculation that the University was going to adopt the Oxford attendance plan came to an end yesterday as the first monitors assumed their jobs and began reworking class lists preparatory to taking attendance.
The University has made none of its usual appeal for attendance monitors, but the cause was merely an overflow of volunteers rather than doubt about the present system, said Registrar Sargent Kennedy '28 last night.
Officials in the Deans' Office expect to have the system in normal running order by the end of this week, with a full complement of monitors.
