Counting up the nickels and dimes and the few dollar bills in the Stadium last Saturday, the University Band Tallied its take at a mere $250. In order to assure themselves of new uniforms and transpiration for the Dartmouth grid contest, the Band estimated their needs at $1000.
The musicians, whom the New Yorker rated as members of the best collegiate band in the country, are anxious to maintain their pre-war standards of color and size. Walter J. Skinner '48, Band treasurer, said that the wider student support was necessary if they were to be guaranteed the Hanover trip. An additional collection at the greater Holy Cross game attendance this Saturday was suggested.
