President Conant was announced as a member of a five-man committee to study controls and safeguards needed to protect United States know-how in the use of atomic energy by Secretary of State Byrnes before he left for London last night.

The committee, to be headed by the Secretary of State, also includes Dr. Vannevar Bush, Major-General Leslle R. Groves, and John J. McCloy. Bush, President Conant, and Major-General Groves were the three men who supervised and directed the development of atomic energy during the war.
