JOINT COMMISSIONING OF 295 WILL BE HELD AT MED SCHOOL

In the first joint graduation ever held, Harvard, Boston University, and Tufts will collaborate in holding commissioning exercises for 295 recent graduates of the Medical and Dental Schools of the three universities. The ceremony will take place Saturday morning at 10 o'clock in the Harvard Medical School Quadrangle.

The three universities' presidents, Leonard Carmichael of Tufts, Daniel L. Marsh of B.U., and President Conant, will gave the introductory speeches leading up to the main address by Major General Norman T. Kirk, Surgeon General of the Army. Brigadier General William J. Keville, Adjutant General of Massachusetts, will present the traditional greetings from the Governor.

General Sherman Miles and Admiral Felix X. Gygax will award commissions to the graduating officers, while the invocation ceremonies are performed by Colonel Abbot Peterson, Chaplain of the First Service Command, and the benediction by Naval Chaplain, Lieutenant Ralph E. Tupper.

Harvard will graduate the largest group of officers as it presents degrees to 86 army candidates and to 42 from the Navy. These candidates will, upon graduation, become first lieutenants in the Army, or naval lieutenants, junior grade.
