Sanders, 28, of Salt Lake City, was nominated by President Roosevelt for promotion to the temporary rank of brigadier general in the Air Forces, which would make him the country's youngest general officer. Another "baby general" on FDR's list was Col. Richard C. Sanders, 29, of Salt Lake City, also an Air Forces officer.
