With most of the starting positions still open to strong threats from B team candidates, the Varsity baseball team moved into the last stages of its preparation for the opening contest at Quonset on April 21.
"They are coming along well, but they are certain to be green," was the way Coach Floyd Stahl described the condition of his squad, most of whom are out for Varsity baseball for the first time. "With the exception of one outfielder and one pitcher, all of the boys are new recruits, but I'm certain that they will come through in their opening games."
Most of the positions on the first string still are open to close fights between two or more men; however, Coach Stahl declared that on opening day the following positions are secure: Conlon, centerfield; Coppinger, third base; Allen, left field; Wallace, pitcher.
