STANDISH DOWNED BY 40 TO 20 IN UPSET

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

A smashing defeat by NROTC Company 3B of last term's champions, Standish, climaxed a week of action in the intramural basketball tourney. The 40 to 20 rout was accomplished by the experienced Navy quintet by virtue of their fast break and tight defense, that Standish could not penetrate.

Lowell continued to ride comfortably along the comeback trail by defeating Company A 37 to 34. Again it was Paul Haskell of the Bellboys who led the scoring parade, with 21 points.

Before being defeated by Company 3B, Standish had conquered the same Company A team 38 to 29, and thus should not yet be counted out of the running. In the only other encounter of the week Company C defeated Adams 18 to 17.

The standings: Lowell  3  0 NROTC Co. 3B  1  0 Company B  1  0 Standish  2  1 Company C  1  1 NROTC Co. 1-2  1  1 Adams  0  2 Company A  0  2 NROTC Co. 3A  0  2
